The ecosystem of Albanian startups is still in its infancy, but it has always shown potential, especially when it comes to the stages of ideation and incubation.

It all started 10 years ago, with the first editions of Startup Live and Startup Weekend Tirana, events similar to the Techstars hackathon. Since then, the local entrepreneurial community has developed rapidly and the ecosystem is now supported by a growing number of events, acceleration programs, collaboration spaces, and incubators.

The startup support ecosystem in Albania has developed significantly, especially in recent years. An ecosystem for startups should be understood as a liaison between young entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, universities, large corporations, various organizations (physical or virtual), public institutions to support the creation and development of new ventures. Initial support for generating business plans that are financially sound and implementable from the first creative ideas, is usually what makes the difference between successful efforts and those that fail. This support is especially true for innovative companies in the field of innovation that are usually initiated by individuals or groups of technology enthusiasts who lack entrepreneurship education as well as formal business management education.
